Aldeburgh Music Club Honour

June 28, 2025

I’m delighted to share the following news!

'After last night’s great concert at Orford Church, Aldeburgh Music Club Choir Chair, Christopher Wheeler announced to patrons some exciting news. President Sir Humphrey Burton has accepted the role of President Emeritus, while our long-standing friend and Vice President Robin Leggate has agreed to become the Club’s new President. Diana Moore, another good friend of the Choir, and frequent soloist (see her in our next concert at Snape Maltings, Messiah, in November!) becomes Vice President, alongside Dame Ann Murray. We are so lucky to have such a distinguished team to support us!'

Aldeburgh Music Club Choir was founded by musical giants, Benjamin Britten & Peter Pears. It’s a huge honour as a Suffolk musician, particularly one from Britten's home town, Lowestoft, to now be formally associated with such a joyous group of singers, inspired and lifted by the indefatigable Tom Appleton at the helm! And I’m in rather startlingly good company!

As Holofernes, Diana Moore combined military grandeur and suave seductiveness into a superb portrait of a warrior at play on the fields of love.
